SAUSD School Counseling Mission Statement
Santa Ana Unified School District school counselors heed the call of The American School Counseling Association (ASCA) in implementing effective school counseling programs that are driven by student data and based on standards in academic, career and personal/social development which promote and enhance the learning process for all students.

Padres Promotores Outreach - SAC team dedicated to reaching out to families with the purpose of empowering, engaging and making Higher Education a possibility for their children by providing skills, knowledge, and resources available. Inspire, transform, and empower families to achieve Higher Education.
Academic Talent Search Program (6th-12th grade at selected SAUSD schools) The Academic Talent Search Program is a federally funded program that identifies and assists individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds who have the potential to succeed in higher education. The program provides academic, career, and financial counseling to its participants and encourages them to graduate from high school and continue on to and complete their postsecondary education.
Upward Bound Program (6th-12th grade at selected schools) Upward Bound is a federally funded program that provides fundamental support to participants in their preparation for college entrance. The program provides opportunities for participants to succeed in their precollege performance and ultimately in their higher education pursuits.
With CSUF CEP’s Outreach Support, SAUSD facilitates College & Career information workshops for students which involves the Outreach services and activities below:

Upward Bound Program (6th-12th grade at selected schools) Upward Bound is a federally funded program that provides fundamental support to participants in their preparation for college entrance. The program provides opportunities for participants to succeed in their precollege performance and ultimately in their higher education pursuits.
Experience Cal State Fullerton, the Center For Educational Partnerships hosts a variety of programs to expose students and parents to higher education. The programs work with students and their families, teachers, counselors, and administration to foster a college-going culture in our surrounding communities.
- COLLEGE AND CAREER EXPOSURE PROGRAM: The program provides information and workshops about accessing college and financial aid, and exposure to higher education via campus experiential programs on campus. This is a partnership with United Way’s Destination Graduation initiative. A total of 20 schools have been adopted in Orange County.
- TITAN DAYS: These special visits are hosted on the CSUF campus and allow students to envision themselves as college students and learn about higher education. These days are tailored for each group.
- STUDENT AND PARENT HIGHER EDUCATION WORKSHOPS: We provide workshops aimed at providing students and their families with the important information to access and pay for higher education.
- KIDS TO COLLEGE: This program introduces about 500 sixth graders to college life by facilitating lessons about future careers, college life, and academic planning. The program culminates with a visit to CSUF that incorporates hands-on STEM lessons and activities that expose students to higher education.
With UCI CFEP’s Outreach Support, SAUSD facilitates College & Career information workshops for students which involves the Outreach services and activities below:

Early Academic Program (EAOP) helps students in underserved schools prepare for college and the workforce by completing all UC and California State University admissions requirements, and apply for college and financial aid. Through a series of collaborative strategies that include Academic Enrichment Programs, Academic Advising, Test Preparation, and Parent Engagement; EAOP is positioned to develop the next generation of university scholars.

California State Summer School for Mathematics and Science (COSMOS) provides intensive learning and discovery in a four-week high school residential program on the UCI campus taught by UCI faculty and their colleagues in California higher education. The mission is to motivate and encourage talented students in math and science to explore STEM topics and support college and career goals in STEM.
